UK Consumer Affairs Minister Gareth Thomas has warned of the dangers posed by confidence tricksters and con men for pilgrims intending to perform Umrah or Hajj. "British Muslims planning to travel to Makkah this year for Hajj and Umrah pilgrimages have been targeted by conmen in the past and there's no reason to think this year will be any different." All accredited tour operators must have an ATOL licence which means that, even if the airline is bankrupt, the traveller's rights are protected.
